Bio

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Phoebe Leung is a contemporary ceramic artist living and working in San Francisco, California. She is a recent graduate of San Francisco State University and holds a B.A. in studio art, with an emphasis in ceramics.

Artist Statement

My ceramic work is an endeavor in the intimate exploration of Self. Through the slow and meditative process of coil building, I use presence to explore a deeper understanding of what it means to be, not by definition of this temporary body, but by a shared universal consciousness that runs through us all.

My sculptures are translations of feelings to form and exist as physical representations of abstract emotions that connect me to something bigger than myself. For me, working with clay is a challenge to the notion that we exist in isolation—a way to bridge the finite and the infinite.
